We’re starting a six-week journey through the book of Colossians, a letter from the Apostle Paul to the church at Colossae. Amid competing claims, Paul focuses them on the real Jesus and living a life consistent with faith in that Jesus. His letter opens with a greeting that reads like an overview (or map) of how the gospel will shape a truly Christ-centered life. This week we begin the series “Following the Real Jesus” with the letter introduction Mapping Gospel Effectiveness.
Paul expresses his continued intercession in prayer for the Colossians' continued spiritual growth.
Paul rejoices that the Gospel is bearing fruit in the Colossians' lives, throughout the world, and through the preaching of the gospel.
Through this season of Easter we have been looking at the blessings that God gives to us only through Christ’s death and resurrection. We finish this series by focusing on the gift that encompasses them all: Peace through the Blood. Through Christ, God has done more than simply declare a cease-fire or provide a way for us to get along with him. Through Christ, God has completely reconciled us to himself and has completely restored the relationship that sin had severed. What a glorious gift we have received through Nothing but the Blood of Jesus!
